At any season Rügen is the classic paradise for ramblers and cyclists, whether in the green woods of Jasmund, along the steep cliffs or the white sandy beaches. In this peaceful nature you can tailor your holiday to your individual needs. Rügen is divided into Central-Rügen, Jasmund, West-Rügen, Wittow, Biosphere Reserve South-East Rügen, and South-Rügen. Each part has its unique natural landscape. By the way, whether you chose to walk, cycle or take a canoe, you are always in the middle of nature.
For walks and cross country horse rides the ‘Bodden’ coast and the hills of ‘Banzelvitzer Berge’ are the most inviting. If a cycle tour is more your thing, you can start off in Lietzow and visit all the famous Baltic Sea resorts and beaches of the island.
We kindly ask you to observe the following 10 golden rules in the nature reserves.

1. Please stay on marked paths.
2. Do keep distance to birds, wild animals and their breeding grounds(their habitat is ever decreasing).
3. Please keep dogs on a lead.
4. Please do not pick any flowers or plants within the nature reserve.
5. To set up a tent, please use one of Rügen’s numerous camping sites, as camping outside of these disrupts the animal life and is harmful to the vegetation
6. Please keep Rügen´s nature clean.
7. Take your time and enjoy the peace.
8. When enjoying water sports, please keep Rügen’s waters clean.
9. Please stay away from reed beds as well as resting and nesting areas of wildlife.
10. Help us preserve Rügen’s nature during your holiday.

Did you know that Sanddorn (sea buckthorn) is an old natural healing remedy which has a strong, quite sharp, yet velvety taste? Its vitamin C contents is not only higher than that of all local fruits, but also much higher than the vitamin C contents of citrus fruits, which we always associate with this vitamin. It is 10 times higher than what you get out of a lemon for instance.
