The most significant sight of interest in Jasmund is its ‘Nationalpark’. This is Germany’s smallest national park and stretches 10 km along the chalk coast. A walk to the ‘Königstuhl’, one of the most visited sights of the island and to the ‘Kap’ can be highly recommended in any season.

The town harbour is one of the highlights of the little town of Saßnitz. Fish arrives here and gets processed straight away. Once a year, in the middle of July, they celebrate the harbour festival ‘Rügener Hafentage’.

The 117m high ‘Königstuhl’ picturesquely rises above the Baltic Sea. It is the best known landmark of the National Park in Jasmund with its 300 year old viewing platform. From here you have a magnificent view across the Baltic Sea and ferries on the horizon.
If you are after a little more adventure, you can join the ‘cutter Kalinin’ in Saßnitz and view the chalk cliffs from the sea. Have a go!
